All for not, its a done deal. Rebate shops and TVG are boinked. The company now has control of HRTV, Bris, Mec, and all the tracks owned by the holding co.

To those who took the time to pitch in to that thread there are over 4 HUNDRED replies and almost 13 THOUSAND views.

The whole thread has been packaged up and is being "overnighted" by mail to the Jockey Club meeting in New York this morning.

Exposure already happening as Bloodhorse magazine has an article on this and the horsemen have noticed and support it.

I see a few from here made that thread their first post which was nice man.

Let's see what shakes out.

Thank you again. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Richie,
I commend you for your good heart and intentions, I really do. The facts are what they are:

A new company was formed that has holdings in several other companys and tracks. In accordance with federal guidelines everything is done and has the needed sec. filings for all to view.

Look at takeout before you boycott

Small snapshot of takeout, does not include all tracks.

I signed the Petition

I think Petition was good idea, but aimed at the wrong direction.

Since it's Horseman Groups or Associations of each State that control or ok's the use of the signals anyway. We need them to stand up to Tracknet of this world.

Most are looking at slots and other gaming as golden goose and not problems that need to be fixed...

Look LA tracks, ton of Gaming money, but running the same cheap horses for bigger purses. With LA Downs running the expanded meet pretty much right on top of Lone Star. Instead of hurting the meet, it actually made it harder for them to fill the cheaper races. So, at Lone Star, we saw alot less Clm 4k, Clm 5k, and MC 10k races at Lone Star. Short term improving the racing, with all the cheap horses running at LA Downs and EVG.

Long term is where it's going to hurt Texas, as breeding operations move out of the State.

Before any changes in gaming happens in Texas, there needs to major changes in Austin..... Mostly a Gov that gives a crap about Horse Racing in Texas. Also a overhaul at the Texas Racing Comission....

Gov. Perry made his first appointment since Bush became President last month.

Look how geographically unbalanced the make-up of Comissioners is??

It's any wonder why the Class II track Sam Houston is continually favored over the Class I track Lone Star in date selection.

Lonestar,

Well said about the state of affairs concerning horse racing in Texas. Unfortunity I don't see it getting any better for a long time.

Consistently Wrong

Consistently wrong; I believe that is a fair characterization of management in most areas of horse racing.

Remember the $5.00 exata at the West coast tracks. According to management it was to protect the bettors from themselves. Memory is a little weak on this one, it either took a boycott, or just the threat, for management to see the light and revert, or introduce, the $2.00 exata; the industry standard. That was followed by the $1.00 exata; as handle increased, protecting the bettor became less and less a concern. And now we have .10 cent Superfecta. They've come a long way.

However, the most "assinine" award statement by a management executive goes to Charles Cella, CEO at Oaklawn Park. In a general discussion with a DRF reporter regarding the state of racing in Arkansas, the comment that will for ever enshrine him in my own personal pantheon of fools is his statement: "we don't emphasize wagering here at Oaklawn Park." Of course we were left to guess what it is they do emphasize? The improvement of the breed? Can we expect to see an Arky Bred in the triple crown chase? In fairness to Mr. Cella he too has seen the light, and Oaklawn Park now offers a gimmick bet. Believe it's called instant racing.

It never stops, it goes on and on and on. Without a national governing body to rien them in, they're all free to bounce around in their own orbit. The only thing that gets their attention is MONEY. They missed it the first time around with simulcasting, so they're hell bent on catching up. Watch out.

A boycott may be the answer. I don't see anyone on the horizon who has the wherewithal or inclination to organize one! That's enough for now, didn't think I had that much in me.

Regards,
Chirs
