Match Up Discussion
Hi Guys..
With Richie away for now, maybe we can continue practicing The Match Up so that we wont get rusty.. and have tons of question for him... With me being new to this and going over the Minds Eye lessons, I have a few questions to throw out here... for me the fist part seems to be easy...listing running styles...and then the problems start...matching up... Example... Horse A..Early.....8 f 24...48...112...xxx positions 1st-2.. 1st-2.. 1st-2.. Horse B Early......8.3 25...48.4...112.4 1st-2 1st-2 1st-2... Horse C Presser 8 23.1 47.3 111.4 3rd-1 3rd-1 3rd-1 1/2 Now according to this we have a dominate early and we should stop and go to the windows..... but we can see Horse C is the fastest of them all.. what to do? mike |

hello
Hi
My look The two Earlys match up I would go with Horse A The presser horse C ran against a much faster pace In this race it will be behind hores A and B but since the pace will be slower it sould have energy to stay up there |

Position does not mean energy distribution. ONE line does not represent the horse. Theoretical discussion to the point of impracticality.
Find the INTRINSIC nature of a horse's response to a variety of pace pressures, THEN consider multiple match ups or sample error may, and usually does, rear it's ugly head. |

Horse A will go wire to wire.... defaults to a lone early
Hores B will finish last Horse C will follow Horse A and be lulled into a slow pace and finish 2nd, with unused energy reserves. It happens all the time. Mike. |

Does anyone think there is no right or wrong way to do The Match Up?That it's only a matter of how you percieve the race is going to be run.The reason I say this because no matter how hard you try you will never be able to emulate The Hat and Doc would warn not to.He was one of a kind.Jeff

There are numerous ways a person can use the matchup and since we ALL are "one of a kinds" we will incorporate the matchup in our own individual ways becouse we all vary in how we handle intuition, this is the POWER of the matchup method it is for this very reason that there is a built in protection of maintaining our positive r.o.i. using the matchup.
