Mountaineer's Winter Track

I'm doing a little research on track variants and need some help with winter tracks.

Does anyone know offhand the approximate changeover dates for Mountaineer. i know they seal it, or whatever, in the fall or winter and it gets a lot slower. Then, they redo it in the spring and it goes back to as normal as Mountaineer ever gets. I need the approx. change dates the last few years.

Also looking for the dates that Aqueduct has gone to and from their inner track the last five years or so.

Its not a moon shot, so best guestimates will do.

Dick

I would go to their web site which you can find and contact them via email.

The dates I would guess will vary according to weather changes. What you can do is just keep an eye out when you see several days with a route Variant in the mid 40's. When you see a weeks worth of these or sprint variants in the 30's they have put their winter chemicals into the race surface.Once the track is winterized you will not see sprint variants in the teens anymore.

You can also look at some old racing forms and look at enough of them to get an idea in the horses pps when the higher track variants show up.

If you check the site to see when they will be shutting down for a period of time it will be pretty close to when they have done it in past years.

Based on the entry data from last year, within a day or two, I show the last main track date on 11/25 and the start of the inner track on 11/29. Might have something to do with Thanksgiving weekend, not sure. then main track resumed after 3/30, but I'm not sure when because the first card I looked at (thanks Ted) was on April 10, 2008. Other than last year I don't have back data.
