Handicapping Question

Hello Guys...

This is for the traditional handicappers....

Do any of you use the E1 E2 / LP 1c 2c figures?

Can it be used somehow to adjust track to track or for the same track on different days?

thxs mike

they are purely positional and don't translate to velocity based definitions of racing style

Information

Hello Mikesal

wow they sure give lots of information on the past performance
Question, In the race from Jan 2 at Philly that the horse won
what are the little + - numbers in the 1C 2C readout
The horse sure earns its way even with only 4 /59 wins

Thanks

Bill, the + and - numbers denote a fast or slow paced race, for E1 and Es compared to the speed figure. Say a SR of 85 typical has an E2 of 96 associated with it, a race shape (POR) of 100 85 would be fast 4 (+4).

Mike, the E1/E2/LP SR numbers are "equalized" for track to track, daily varinat, etc. A 90 at a sprint E2 is the same as a 90 E2 in a route. You can use the numbers interchangeably. They represent time for each point of call and have nothing to do with positions. If you are interested in some unique ways to use them to measure energy distribution, search for Michicken at PaceAdvantage - he had some really insightful formulas that looked at early, middle, late energy and deceleration. Much of Pizzolla's stuff can be adapted to those numbers, too.
