SA- Saturday 3/26 - Paceless Race

Here is a sprint today at Santa Anita. Only six entered, and none have been on the lead at the 1C of a sprint. You can find a couple of 2-hd lines way back in the PP's but that's it!

Richie lays out a "Hat Helper" on how to approach these races...

Not an eay call, but I will use #5 as my on-the-lead horse here. So, I will use the 21.4 44.4 pace from last race and compare the other runners...

#1 Only faced today's pace at Los Alamitos without great success...OUT
#2 Faced faster pace last out and improved position...IN
#3 Line 3 vs today's pace not much...OUT
#4 Finished 2nd vs 21.3 44.2 last out...IN
#6 Improved position vs today's pace in the last race. Other strong OTE lines as well.IN

The 2,4 and 6 are tough to separate for me. I'll look forward to other looks at this race.

Race

Hi Pete

First off nice work on the 10 and 5 in yesterdays race

Hats match up book Page 124

for todays race

I see the 5 as the horse who will get the lead at about a 22.4

how will the others do against this ?

horse 1 shows nothing
horse 2 shows a 4 4 3 2 miss by a neck against faster Line 3
horse 3 nothing really except the bottom race from Fairplex
horse 4 Last line 5 4 4 2 against faster
horse 5 Will be the leader
horse 6 6 6 5 4 steady gain againt faster last line

Its a close finish I can see the 2 and 4 the 6 also
I will go with 2 4 as 6 gets the best of the 5 in this march 5th tandem rematch

Pete:

I agree with most of your layout, but the 5 last raced vs the 6 and both were coming of layoffs 4 months for the 5 and 7 months for the 6.

To me the 4 breaks too slow for even this field. From a who-failed-least standpoint the 6 might be interesting and he worked well since raced and has 4ITM scattered over 6 races since 2007

My pick is probably the favorite, the 2. Has consistently shown improving turn times esp lines 1 and 3 and a high 109 or low 110 time should be good enuf for this field. As the race paces have gotten faster the turn times have been getting a little better and last fraction speed has not tailed off even with the last race TT=22.2 the FF was 24.2.

Probably won't get the lead but will be willing to run by anything else; May wire the field for fun. All that said the 5 and 6 could improve off first-off layoffs and unless the crowd goes nuts over something else, the payoff on the 2 does not look appetizing.

Bill V.: Thanks. Unlike me yesterday though, you got the top 2 in the correct order today! And I enjoy checking out your readouts as well.

Bill L: Nicely done..."May wire the field for fun". Bingo.

The 5 never made the lead. The 2 takes them wtw after holding off a late charge from the 4.
