What the Hey - Penn Race #7 04/10/13
What the heck is going on here. They said the#7 was scratched, he is in the race and wins and then they post the winners and its the 2nd, 3rd and 4th horses, they then post the order of finish lenghths behind and the #7 horse is posted first.
i have never seen this in all my years of racing can anyone explain? Watch the replay, strange!!!!!! No inquiry, no objection! |

Did the horse run for purse money only. If so then the correct payout result would be the 2nd .3rd, and 4th place finishers

It was crazy
I'm sure there is a good reason but
It was so weird I did the race, I have the 7 as a contender. I'm thinking I should bet it but both the 1 and 5 are short. Since at this point i'm reaching for a second bet I just decide to pass. Then I think maybe either the 5 or 1 will go up in odds and I see the 7 is scratched so I figure I will just watch and see who wins the 1 or the 5. later I click on the video and the horses are going down the back stretch, but wait there is horse 7 ! now I panic and then the 7 wins the race The betting menu says the 7 is scratched the track video says the 7 is scratched, but who is charging home the winner # 7 ![]() then they post the results and the 5 wins some where the twilight zone music was playing You have just entered a strange world were horse who are not in the race are winning >>>> |

According to the replay and the result chart, the #7 did indeed run for purse money only and not for pari-mutuel share. Perhaps there was some note in the on track program, or in the live run up to the race.
But the BRIS & Equibase result chart doesn't properly represent the running result. The #7 was not 2nd 1.5 lengths behind the #5 - it ran 1st about 4 lengths in front of the #5. Hope the Chart gets updated. One of the stranger race results I've seen, for sure ... ![]()

I have no clue
This all seems so strange. What happens to the 7 now !
Is it still a maiden ? What will its PP's show next time out ? 1st, 2nd " just ran for the heck of it "Does this seem odd ? Does this happen often ? What are the pluses and the negatives of running for purse money only; |
