Total energy 98%?

I have been going over all of the follow ups and in issue 77 ,Dr Sartin says that in a 1000 race study "the Win horse of each races ranked in the top 5 and ties in Total Energy 98% of the time" and the top three 75% of the time.

I was wondering if that is still the case today. Any thought on this would be great.

Thanks

Gia

Follow ups

These stats come from articles in follow up 76 and 77

The results makes sense As long as the proper pace lines are entered

No Best of the last 3 preceptor was not invented yet
that came years later from Guy Wadsworth and Ted Craven
Perceptor was not part of the methodology during this test.

The method used was.... I will let you see it from Doc himself
from Follow Up 77

Did you notice how Doc does not say HIGHEST speed rating ?

He underlines and bold faced two word, they are BEST and COMPARABLE
pace line selection

Thanks as always Bill you are always a great help, I saw that before but it's little confusing, so when using the precaptor in the auto pace line selection is it using the best of the last 3 comparable, our do we always have to do it manually , I know we should always go over the pace lines even when letting the computer do it for us, but does it pick last best compatible ?..

Good lord!
I'm just a newbie here, and low on the geekiness ladder, but I am old school enough to firmly believe you EARN what you get. I would NEVER allow a machine to pick pacelines OR make selections for me. For credibility sake I bet FTL would back me up on that one.
