New member questions

Hi, I'm Zavi, I have been handicapping for 35 some odd years and I am thinking about trying out RDSS. When I download the program will I have access to a data base that will have race files and results so I can practice a bit? I have watched several videos and I am going over the manual as well but would like to practice a bit with the software. It looks like you can export the data and run quires in other data base software so I take it you could test angels if you wanted to? Can you tell the software to choose a particular type or date for a running line for each horse? It looks like you can but not sure yet. Last question, do some of the members here turn a long term positive ROI ?I realize this is not a black box but a tool or aid in handicapping but just wondering if a 10 to 15 percent ROI is attainable? Thanks

Hello and welcome aboard! Some links to look at to help you get started:

I unfortunately don't use RDSS as my handicapping aid but above are some links to help you with your decisions and also what you can possibly pick up to help you along the way!

I would have to say for your ROI question a 10-15% ROI is very attainable due to the fact that if you are going to put yourself in a situation to only play the bets you feel confident in and also not betting every race yes I believe that you could reach that goal! Also staying in within your limits along with picking track(s) that you have success at are big keys to reaching a solid ROI

I have been in this game since 2016 and joined this awesome forum in 2018 with learning about Sartin and what he did along with using the RDSS software but I have changed the way I handicap in those years leading up to this year by not using RDSS (no hard feelings) and using my old methods to pick out my winners and I can tell you this that has helped me recently: Focus on 1 or 2 tracks PER YEAR as you will know the ins and outs of your selected racetracks and you will see success in no time! I only focus on Oaklawn and Remington Park as my "go to" tracks since I have been handicapping Oaklawn for 3 years now and Remington Park for 2 years and I can tell you I have learned a lot during those years and that is what has made me successful in what I do on this forum

I don't have a winning day every single day but on those days that you hit a lot of winners just appreciate that you can still do something great and learn from your betting mistakes so next time you know what to look for and possibly avoid in a specific race

In my handicapping I only focus on my top 2 selections and that is what I like to do since it narrows down the field and I have more time to find the real contenders every single race day!

I am only saying what I can say and I hope this helps!

Good luck and I will let the other handicappers chime in now

Thank You CheckMark, Great news about the ROI. I do just play 3 tracks now when I was younger I tried the 10 tracks a day but that didn't end well. Thanks for the links and I'm off to the races!

Hi Zavi! I replied to your email as well. Yes there is a good collection of example databases for RDSS for you to try out (link on the main screen of RDSS).

You can export data to Excel/CSV format from each race and collect it in a Model file for short/long term analysis by whatever tools you like.

You can choose lines for each horse entirely yourself, or using several alternative automatic Paceline Selection Strategies - or a combination of auto and manually tweaked.

As Conley (Checkmark) mentions, if you bet selectively, or become a specialist on a few tracks - you can make your suggested minimum long-term ROI (or more). I myself specialize in one circuit, but work and bet races from everywhere as circumstance requires or the spirit moves me. I don't post a lot of selections, but if you wish to accept it, I do manage to make a modest profit almost every year for the past 10+ years or so (plus a nice rebate).

If you check the Selections Forum, day in and day out you will see a few members posting their live selections and giving an end-of day betting recap. I think if you tallied up several months of some of those individuals' selections, you'd notice a steady profit (though it does take some time to arrive at that happy outcome ...)

Best of luck with your plans to use RDSS and absorb more of the Sartin Methodology approach. Any questions - ask away!

Ted

No problem zavimx!

Don't think I have ever heard of someone trying 10 tracks a day handicapping so that is a first

I can see doing 3 tracks max which is good if you can keep up the pace but doing 4+ gets to be a lot of figuring out

Sure if you had a spot play system that focuses on a few key steps or some kind of system that you can quickly scan all the tracks on a specific day for I would say anyone could always try

Good luck in your journey and any questions do not be afraid to ask me

I can provide my personal email in a private message if you want to chat off P&C?
