Betting From Home

I went out to Charles Town last night for live racing.Since it's a smaller track when your in the dining room you get a great view of the races and I guess the atmosphere helps as well.Today sitting in front of my computer I started to get bored.,it wasnt from lack of winning I hit 4 of 5 races.I guess Im missing all the excitement from being there. Then again I dont miss the 100 mile trek to get up there and back. It's a bitch getting old.Jeff

Hi Jeff. At woodbine there is this guy who is 91 years old. He walks about 5 miles to the track and walks back 5 miles. In the winter time his daughter drives him to the track. He has never taken any kind of pill in his life. He runs to the windows to make his last minute bet. People do not believe that he is 91.

If you were to dye his hair and stand 200 feet away from him. You swear that he is a teenager because of the way he moves. He also has all his teeth. To some people old age does not mean anything and he is one of them. BUT HE IS A HELL OF A BAD HCPER.

Indeed. Chronological age is not to be confused with 'actual' age. You're not 'old' Jeff...just ask someone who's 80 years of age and he'll tell ya! It's only "a bitch getting old" (chronololgically) if you're overweight and out of shape!

Here's my advice on keeping youthful: If you're overweight, reduce your caloric intake, eliminate those unhealthy--but tasty--foods from your diet and lose those extra pounds! Okay, you can 'cheat' once in a while, but for the most part say "bye-bye" to junk food. Take it from me! I did it! I went from 235 lbs. in early 2005 to my current 6' 2" 190 lbs. Can you say "size 32" waist? I can!! If I can do it, you can too!! You just want to "want to!"

If you smoke tobacco (or anything else)--stop it!! Ditto for alcoholic beverages which are loaded with calories! Ask a former beer-man (me!) who used to have that unsightly "beer belly" and bloated, fat-face for all too many years! Okay, if you can't give up "adult beverages" completely, at least cut down on them considerably!

If you're tired and devoid of energy--start exercising! Performing calisthentics and lifting weights work every time they're tried! I'm not talking about developing a super-freakish, musclebound physique but to firm up what you have, which in turn also increases muscle size, improve your body's overall muscle tone, which in turn increases your energy and strength, and in turn, gives you an overall sense of well-being because of the endorphins that are released into your brain because of the very healthy activities--your body's way of saying: "thanks buddy!" Ask me how I know!

And finally, a healthy, strong body contributes to your overall optimisim and sense of well-being, as well as clear-thinking. And you know what clearer thinking translates to: more $uccessful handicapping!

Regards,

Jon
