Two Questions
Ted,
I realize that you might have already answered these questions before. What is the origin of the speed rating for the workout? Is this generated inside the program, does it come from Trackmaster or from someplace else. For instance TPR,s are from the methodology and generated inside the program. Extraction (route to sprint) and projection (sprint to a route): Are these done per the methodology or do they come from Trackmaster through their variants or something? Thanks Foggy Froggy |

Hi Froggy,
1. Workout Speed Ratings are generated by RDSS, not TrackMaster. Each distance is given a par time = 100 and each 10th second slower than par results in a points deduction from 100. Adjustments are made depending on gate, dogs, off track. Only SR over 75 are shown. The SR is an imprecise rating of time, but a rough guideline of effort, to be used in conjunction with other workout info at least as important such as recency, frequency, interval, distance. Trainer intention is what we're trying to divine here. 2. Distance adjustments (including Extraction and Projection) of route and sprint call times are done internally to RDSS (and not by any data supplied by TrackMaster) using the same methods as Validator and Speculator for those modes respectively (and they each differ somewhat). If you want to know exactly what's going on, try this experiment (over a collection of distances): turn off DTV and ITV adjustments so the only adjustments remaining are distance equalizations. Compare the raw screen final and incremental times to the adjusted screen times. A 6f pacline for today's 6f race will be identical. A 6.5 paceline will differ by the distance adjustment used at 6.5f. A 8.5f paceline will differ by the adjustment used at 8.5f, etc. Pretty soon, you'll have a chart which helps you know what distance adjustments are occuring. (Then remember to switch back on your DTV and ITV adjustments before resuming your handicapping). RDSS uses TrackMaster DTV and ITV supplied adjustments. Hope that helps! Ted
