I was upstate working in a kitchen that morning. Was just me and the kitchen head of staff. Everyone else had gone.He had a radio on and the 1st words of a plane hitting the Tower came on. Right away he thought it was a small plane.

We both couldn't believe it when the realities of what was happening set in. One of the head staff guys lost a son who was on one of the top floors. He couldn't handle it and split never to come back.

I hope that he and everyone who suffered loss/trauma that morning have found some peace and comfort with the passing years.

Here in Lubbock there is a school which displays an American flag in a field in front of the school, one for each victim of 9/11. The display is lit all night and stays up for three days. Our memory , both individual and collective is short and I am thankful for all you keep it alive. Thank you both for the pictures.

Asia Cottom, every year this date. Won a trip to San Francisco bird sanctuary as a part of the National Geographic Society contest she won with several other middle school students. FIRST time she was ever on a plane.

I remember watching Good Morning America on TV that day. They were reporting on the first jet that hit one of the towers. As they were showing a video of the first tower all of a sudden you saw a second jet hitting the second tower.

When this happened I no longer believed this was an accident. I felt sorrow for the people in the buildings and the rescue workers that lost their lives that day. After 09/11 the world as we see it has changed for all of us.

Thanks for posting the pictures and remembrances on this site. I was sitting at home in FL with my folks who were out visiting on vacation also watching Good Morning America when I first saw what we all more or less collectively believed to be a small plane hit one of the Twin Towers. First thought, maybe some poor soul had a heart attack or something of the sort which caused him to totally faulter from course and strike the building. When the second plane struck the second tower an incredible and overwhelming feeling of sorrow and helplessness quickly ensued. I have never seen or witnessed anything so dramatic and abhorrent as virtually everything that ensued shortly thereafter.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who were affected by the 9-11 tragedy. My gosh, I was working in Oklahoma City the day that the freak T. McVey bombed the Murrah Building as well. One of these incidents alone took way too much of a toll on this country and how our entire outlook and landscape has changed forever since going forward.

God Bless all who were affected by the unspeakably horrific tragedy of 9/11.
