Thanks FTL

From a post in another thread FTL wrote:

On average, I may actually bet one race in a nine or ten race card.
I never know when something that doesn't pertain specifically to one post may still be of use. After a couple of discouraging days of getting "only" 1 or 2 plays on a race card, FTL writes the above. So I went back to a "model" or "profile" (still have trouble deciding which is which) that I keep on how the top 5 horses, I handicap in each race, perform.

The top ranked horse is winning at 34% with an average payoff of $7.37. Doesn't tell me all that much but then I broke it down some more with the following results: 21% paid $10 or over (4:1), 34% paid $8 or over (3:1) and 40% paid $7 or more (5:2).

It certainly shows that the longer odds you require before betting, the longer you will have to wait. 4:1 horses will only get you a bet about 2 times in 10 races. BTW, I show a string of 10 straight races where horses paid less than $7 and remember there would only be about 4 races to play in 10. A person could go 2 - 3 days without even getting a betable race.

Patience! Thanks again for an important lesson.
