Ramon..

Thanks for the read outs of these Derby prep races...

I'm surprised that Matador ranks #5 on total energy but #1 on V/DC...

Cairo Prince now races for its new owner, the Sheik...

Thanks again...

Interesting ! With ValM if the line your using is from another track you hand enter the 3 year best when you come to the SR. This will cause a difference. Also the three year best times that are entered in ValM for the track your at are hand entered and may be different than the downloaded version.Or maybe Val4 and ValM are slightly different programs.

Ahhh.. Three year best times is sometimes a futile effort if one does not keep up with changing track maintenance and renovated dirt or turf corses..
Del Mar comes to mind this year the track will change the "synthetic" dirt course to real dirt and increase the width of the turf course.

Also, each different track distance " track record" or "three year old best" is dependent on the quality of stakes runners that compete at each track. There are fewer grade one stakes runners that run at Hawthorne or Parx than at tracks like Saratoga or at Santa Anita.

Last point, many tracks card many graded stakes races on the same day which will affect the daily variant assigned..." BC races...derby day races, etc..

Ramon,

I have used Valm and have been wondering about the differences w/Val4 on their readouts.I've also been using Val4 exclusively lately, only switching to Spec160 on Aqueduct 5.5 sprints because there are no data on Val4 pp lines on those distances.

I've followed Ramon's past postings on Valm and I noticed that differences w/Val4 readouts occur on high graded stakes races. On mid-claiming sprints and routes, they're very closely similar.

Hi

Hello Ray and Ramon

One thing to consider is VALM is the hand entry version of the original
Validator It uses a scale based on the speed rating values of that time.
about 2000-2002.

Validator 4 is a improvement of validater 2-3
However Ted had to modify the values of the Equibase speed rating
changes that occurred in 2006

So Ramon. you are basically using the pre 2006 speed rating values were as
Ray is using what we would see on Val 4 or RDSS

I will show you what I mean in my next post

same horse 3 programs

Here is an example

Valm and Val 4 are the same programs But with different scales for speed ratings and uses the intertrack and daily varient which could be different than what was used by the DRF in 2000

Here is a line for a horse running on Saturday from Parx

Val 4 gives line 2 a Speed rating of 84

Valm gives the same line a speed rating of 82
Its not a big difference but we are guessing the track to track adjustments and the DTV when we use today's data

Here is Synthesis This is using the pre 2006 speed ratings
and the same ITV and DTV adjustments as Val 1 and in theory Valm
But Sythesis gives the line a 96
