RDSS - Time to Adapt

I have started using RDSS for a few days now. There's so much new info and factors in there now that i think it is time for me to avail of the immense value of it.For the last two and a half years i have supplemented my Social Security benefit by using EXDC playing from March ,starting from $10 win bets to close to $100 by the end of October.I was very selective in the races i played.

I've been checking out RDSS in the last few days and saw the new features like the latest one,Leverage Pace.I am still studying these latest features because it's a great tool for exotic players and the export to the new model to Excel.I am a win-bettor so I will study that.I have an old Excel model i use for win betting that i will use in the meantime.I have subscribed to unlimited monthly and i can look at so many mid-claimng sprints and routes now.The auto paceline selection with minimal manual checking plus the latest features that are there is awesome.I can export the races i play to EXDC also.I am very impress with what Ted has done and continously doing to make it better.I am tailoring everything for my own personal way of playing.I have also been subscribing to the Racing Television Network and for $15/mo watching the tote and the races.I do not have to go to the racebooks here in Vegas anymore and fight the traffic and pay parking fees anymore.

I'd say great job to Ted and the other members that provided help, support and feedback on how to make RDSS better.I wish Ted good health so he can provide more years to keep RDSS going and gratitude for all the help, patience and support to us all.

I wish good luck, great skill and a profitable many years to all members of Paceandcap.

hey Ray,

I have been using RDSS for a decade or so now and I like it.

It used to have real time odds and results, which was super useful, but now does not. I guess the new bells and whistles have taken precedence. I find the new pace stuff is garbage. With my handicapping (and with all sartin stuff the lines you enter are the key) it hits more low priced winners but the mutuels are lower and the there are not enough more winners so it loses for me. But without the new pace, I have made money with RDSS year in and year out as a hobby player (12-25 days per year).

I like how Ted gives us the tandems on their own screen, that is really nice. I also like that he marks all the horses that trainers have running in the same race, another nice feature.

I love the PoH screen. I look at total energy there, I look at individual fractions there. I look at % median there. I love the pace vectors which were a graph in the old programs, but I like the numbers better personally. The BL/BL is still my all time favorite handicapping tool.

Ted has done an amazing job of making the program easy and keeping a lot of legacy stuff for us old timers that don't want to change while we are still winning. I think you will learn to love RDSS like I have.

Best of luck to you,

Dan

Forgot to mention.

On the PoH screen and I assume other screens, you can click the top of the column and sort on that value.

Example, on PoH, I can sort on F3 in a turf race. This makes all the horses listed from fastest to slowest final fraction. Using this one trick a couple years ago, I was hitting over 60% at Saratoga turf routes in the first 3 weeks of the meet. It was easy money.

The software is nice.

Hi Dan,

Very nice to hear from you.Did the Atlantis Casino in Reno fixed their betting app?
I am using RDSS in a different way.I do not go for the colored horses all the time.I can go for a day or so without making a bet. That's why i go for unlimited downloads. If i go day-to-day,i will be inclined to make a bet because i do not want to waste a download.I do not bet low-odds horses like i used to a few years ago.It was the biggest change in my making
a profit in this game.I look for non-obvious horses. That's why i use RDSS in a different way.
That was pretty frank of you to say that the new pace is junk.I heard about it before but i am seeing it now.I cannot comment on it because i am still doing some reading on it.
Maybe one of these days,we can meet there since i have a house in Sparks and i go back now and then.Take care,Dan.

Hi Ray and Dan

Very good reviews by both of you on RDSS.

I use preceptor to pick the lines but will change them
if necessary, I will throw out horses as I want to get the
least number of contenders. Right now, I am concentrating
on blue arrow horses and TPR numbers.

Ted has really done a great job with this update

Hey Ray,

Hope you are doing well.

Yes, Atlantis did come out with a new race app. It isn't perfect, but it is running better on my Android than the last one did. I have a hard time going to the casino. I have PTSD and depression which makes me pretty agoraphobic. I am mostly a shut in. I leave my apartment about twice a week to get fresh groceries and go to the VA, not much else. The good news on that is that my car insurance is lower than most since I drive less than 2k miles a year

I would love to meet up for racing but right now is difficult. I was injured in a fall last summer and was in and out of the ER all last year with infections. I got a good surgeon who removed the abscess and the infections are now a thing of the past, but recovering from surgery has been hard and much slower than I expected. Age comes for us all. If I can build up my endurance that tends to help with my anxiety for some reason, so I am starting to walk my daughter's dog again. She is awesome and nags me to get out and exercise and who can say no to an excited dog? If I can get my health back on track a bit, I will gladly PM you and maybe we can meet at the race book on a day when it isn't too crowded.

Best of luck to you, I think you will be happy with RDSS

Hey Jeff

I have not used Perceptor so I am not sure how it picks lines. To be honest though, picking the pacelines is my favorite part of the methodology, so I would be loath to give that up.

One thing I love about RDSS is that Ted gives us 3 categories to group the horses in. My experience is that the ones in the top contender area are not influenced by ones in the lower two rungs. So in the top area, it will show the horse only rated against each other. So it might be the 1 EPR at top, but then a lower rung might also have a 1. This is incredibly useful to me. I only put the horses I think can win and place in the top primary / contender rung.

I use the next rung for first time starters and foreign horses and horses I am confused on. Like if a horse has a recent line off a layoff and then a line 9 months ago, I will put him in the rung with both lines selected and use that (usually on the PoH screen) to compare both his first line back to his previous form before the layoff.

The lowest rung I will put horses that I don't consider have any chance. If I see they are getting lots of action though, I will go back to the horse's page and try to look at all the lines and see if the action is from just a class drop or maybe in a similar circumstance he did well and if I find something I might click a second line and move him up to the middle tier.

All this flexibility makes RDSS an insanely useful tool for me to analyze and compare the horses to each other.

Dan

Thanks for sharing and hope that you get your health back. Dogs
are really good for seniors, wish my wife would let me get one.
I have been shut in to some degree with a ulcerated toe that
keeps getting infected so need to stay off of it. Dr wants to
amputate tip of it which I don't want but facing the facts may
have to.

I only use preceptor as a guide and will adjust as I follow FTL's
paceline selection and some of Pizzolla as well

Be well
Jeff
