First time through (energy wise) The William R. Travers stakes looks to be a speed duel contest between Kensei and Quality Road, BUT there appears an interesting, and as yet, unproven runner from the Zito barn OUR EDGE who could come running very late (doubtful however with the weather report) to pick up the pieces: a LATE running front runner. This one has never chased the proposed pace of this field however and morning line at 15/1 is realistic.

More to follow as this one is further dissected

Hello Tim:

I will be very interested in looking at your analysis of this race. Before I have even had a chance to look at the PP's, I really believe that we may witness something very special from a very special horse in Quality Road tomorrow. Not to put the cart before the veritable horse, but, if all goes well tomorrow and the track is fast I truly believe that we may see a Track Record type of effort from Quality Road at 10 panels in the Travers Stakes. I still can't believe what I saw in the Amsterdam Stakes. What an incredible display of versatility. He got out taking a bad step or nearly bobbled coming out of the gate, only to rush up quickly into contention. When he was entering the stretch he went by Cousin Carlos and the other pony in a seemingly effortless fashion. I believe that if Kensei goes for the lead he will be more than happy to sit right off the lead and if that is indeed the way that it pans out, watch out when Johnny V. finally turns him loose.

I believe that this horse is "all that and a Bag of chips". As a very good friend of mine would say "A Big Bag of Party Chips" if you will excuse me for saying so.

Travers Day, sloppy track - takes me back 30 years to when I made a nice piece of change on General Assembly. A horse for the course and track condition, he had won a 2YO stakes in the slop at the Spa a year earlier.

His race prior to the Travers was a sprint - shades of Quality Road. However that feat has not been accomplished since.

Yes Tim, OUR EDGE does deserve a close look. Just on my initial analysis, the horse comes out on top using one pace line per horse. Now to go back and work it a bit more.
