Same old question

I am re-starting again and doing some live practice races, and also wish to learn, (I'd like to say again, but...), to make myself some track models with what I download.

I know we had gone over this before in great detail, and I will research and go back over it again, before my many questions will come forth.

But when it comes to the Data I will need , may I ask your opions here which download service I may need to get what I wish to accomplish, which is to have the data to pick winners and then create track models after the fact.

Do I need the bundled stuff, or what, forgive me for not knowing this, but not knowing isn't a reflection on how well you guys and gals here help us to learn, it's just my mind is kinda temporarily cluttered, ( I'm working on that as we speak thou), and my renewed enthusiamsism is off the charts, I finally get back to what I love doing more than anything , wager and win on the ponies, and this time life too, all thanks to Doc Sartin and his many many friends.

God Bless

Also does the new download include the update of those that before I had to download, 98.5 and such, I guess up to 98.8, I think.

I know , this may be repetitive, for give me.

But I ask about the data because we had a discussion before that there was one download that Ted and me decided that I did not need, so this time I just want to make sure I am getting what I need, that is all.

Thanks

Hi Patrick
RDSS is currently up to version 98.8 so that is the one you want to have.

You do NOT need the bundle package with the results at this point in my opinion. Just the pps.

If you are working old races from the free demo database the Racing Channel archived results will take care of any model input you may want to do

The bundle with the results will benefit us after Ted releases the new program RDSS 2.0

The current version has the built in "export to excel" feature so that will take care of your model work virtually automatically.

Hope this helps

Model work done almost automatically, say it ain't so. Honestly that would be awesome, I can't wait for that, but till then i guess doing it the old fashioned way, cut and paste, right.

Thanks Richie, you always have great news when you post here, thanks

Ptrick,

Check again what Richie wrote: the current version of RDSS exports to Excel models (and I think you used this feature in the last RDSS version you used). If you're connected to Tote, the mutuel payouts, closing odds and Tote Xray stuff gets exported too. You can somewhat automate your model keeping now.

However, beware of over reliance on models. Sometimes you'll find a factor that kicks in for a while on a certain track, a certain surface or distance, or discover that, say, E/L range must be not higher than such and such, etc. But, the matchup of horses entered in today's race often overrides many model considerations, or, accounts for why some factors deviate from models.

Get to trust the aggregate factors such as Total Energy, BL/BL and V/DC. Know when the Earliest horse, who fits all the models, will be killed off today by another 'fighter' horse who will not be headed, who will also himself fade in the stretch. These matchup skills will help you know when to be guided by and when to depart from your collected model info.

Good luck!

Ted

Hey Ted

I think I left just before automated export was being done, be we were close to it, and this is the first time I am kinda getting the vibe to use the Match-up more closely, for which I will most definetly do, always did like that feature, great way to eliminate a horse or two.

Is there a video of the new automated exporting, and are we still using only about 3-6 weeks in our models, as we know track are constanly changing, am I right?

Thank Ted and Richie for everything you guys do
