I have to make a retraction the difference between a 5000n1y and 7500n1y is not a huge difference but it's still a step up especially if the horse hasnt won for 5000n1y.A much bigger difference would be a horse going from 5000 n1y to a 5000 open race.This might seem confusing but is well explained in Davidowitz's book Betting Thoroughbreds.

Another book which is very good is Bob Heyburn's Fast and Fit Horses.Im surprised it's not talked about more here especially since Doc recommended this book in one of the seminar tapes.
