Now that all the Follow Ups have been posted to the Pace and Cap Library, I've been spending a LOT of time re-reading the later ones, dealing with BL/BL and V/DC concepts. Here's a choice bit from FU #75, Page 53.

Yes and no. Yes, in that both the Val Paceline Indicator (PI) and Peceptor measure the same 7 Primary Factors. However, the Val PI calculates the ranks for the 2 or 3 or however many lines you select to be evaluated, ranking them against each other. Perceptor does its percentage-of-best thing, then sums the percent deviations, then ranks those sums. So the Val PI acts just like a Primary Line Score of ranks. It would be the same as if on the Perceptor screen for a horse's Past Performance (PP), the Primary Line Score column were also included (as it is on the Analysis Perceptor screen). However, I believe there is way too much noise from too many pacelines (i.e. up to 10) for the PLS to make much sense on the PP Perceptor screen. Many people do use that Perceptor screen exactly as they do/did the Validator PI feature, and I think that is its primary usefulness. Ted
