Bomb City
Bomb City
If you think a race is going to blow up because of speed, and you have a bomb selected that is double digit, bet a win bet on your bomb then place your bomb second to the top 4 Sartin horses in either the Exacta or the Trifecta. Note it is smart to rank the speed precisely and cover the back end of the speed. Often the Bomb you bet to win will run second and you will cash a nice ticket when the speed blows up on the front. This worked for me the other night at Turfway when I bet a $68 winner and today when I cashed a exacta ticket at Louisiana where I got raped for a 50-1 shot that ran second for me. |

Dr. Ziemba
Beat the Racetrack
Highly statistical book, I did read it when first came out. Was a thick one. Basically the idea deals with the inefficiencies of the stock market applied to horse racing. You have to watch the Tote Board fluctuation until the last minute or two, and then, based upon some statistical calculation you would make your bet. I don't remember if he talked much about exotic wagering, but I know for sure that the Win bet was a lock. The key word here is "Inefficient", which means "not producing the desire effect". The public only guess the winner 32% of the time (around there), thus the favorite. Is 32% an efficient way to win at the track, or inefficient? You know the answer. I wonder why Doc expect 60% or above, to be Efficient. I'm sure he did read Ziemba one time or another. Pino |

"Jon, I have copied and printed your post. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me." Anytime my friend. Like I said, I'm still learning something new and/or getting a better feel for constructing these types of wagers every time I play...er, I mean, invest in Pari-Mutuel Funds and am more than glad to share my knowledge with like minded investors. Best regards, Jon |

Bombs Away Part 2
You have 8 entries and you know for a fact the favorite is false so you only have to drill holes into two more starters. Now in your mind you feel of the 8 starters three of them will be OTB. So you take the best of the remaining five starters and you key that runner in all three positions of the Tri. at a cost of $36, Note: the odds board must reflect the risk is worth taking! I have done this with 10 starters and keyed two starters in all three positions at a outlay of $72. Back in the day when I would only play the twin tri. and every weekend nail the first half on Fri. Sat & Sun 85% of the time with the first half on avg. around $400 and alot of the time winning the tri. in two positions.
As long as you can drill holes in all but 5 starters and the oddsboard reflects that patoffs will be over $200 for $1. Surely others have done similar parlays that they are willing to share like round robins or a birdcage. Last edited by Fast4522; 09-14-2005 at 05:40 PM. |
