Bill, Ira,

Here's the problem (referring to Bill's screenshot above, enlarged 25%):

Big Glen's last line should show a Strong Move (SM) marker between the 2nd and stretch calls (gained 5 positions). You can see a gap between the red and the green of the Stretch calls for the 1st and 2nd lines where the SM underline marker should be (is). The same gap does not exist between the two reds of the final calls of the same 2 races (i.e. no SM).

The problem is that your particular graphics adapter is interpreting the pale blue colour I used for SM markups as being effectively invisible (or too close to the background colour to see it). The SM marker is there (you can see the gap) but with a useless colour. I wanted the marker to be relatively unobtrusive, so I chose a pale colour which worked OK on 3 of my screens and a few others'.

For the next release, I will make it so you can control the colour used for both the Layoff marker and the SM marker in case the default colour does not work for your graphics card. I'll also make the default colour be the same light grey used for the Layoff markers.

Thanks for that report - I think that fixes it. (In the meanwhile, if you felt like it, you could twiddle with the colour settings on your monitor so that that colour shows up as something visible...)

Twiddling progress report:

Went to Control Panel - appearance - and found that instead of default blue colors I was using the silver option. Once changed, Big move lines magically appeared. Thank you Mr. Wizard!

Here's what Bill is referring to (you can also right-click your Desktop then choose Properties):

I will test any hard-wired colour schemes in the 3 schemes provided with Win XP (Blue, Silver, Olive) to make sure they make sense. Win Vista has a ton more of colour schemes and I'll do the best I can. When in doubt, go default!

Thanks Bill!

*RDSS Update V0.97.8a*

Hello All,

I released a minor update today which mostly serves to fix the problem with new track codes appearing. You can download it from the usual place, and I have sent an email to everyone currently on the RDSS Testing Group mailing list. If you thought you were on that list, and didn't get the email, just drop me a line at ted@artofpace.com.

If anyone wants to jump in and begin working with RDSS in its current Beta state, and is willing to give me some feedback, just let me know and I'll be happy to set you up.

Ted

Ted:

Lately, I've been back testing some old races and at odd and irregular times the program times out or stops if it takes more than 10 seconds or so after i hit the past performance button. The program closes itself down completely. Its not a biggy, but it annoys. got any ideas?

Ted,
I have also had that problem. It always seems to happen at Tampa towards the end of the card and always a turf race with more than 10 entries. When I click on past performances I get an error report message and the program just kicks me out. I just restart it and it works perfectly. Just thought I'd also let you know.
