Doug,

You must install it within the virtual machine. Just installing on your c drive of your win 7 pro machine will not work.

Once you boot the virtual machine, it will look like xp, not win 7. Then you install the program and should be able to run it with no problem on the virtual machine. It works.

I just followed thier instructions and it doesnt even show on the start menu even though it shows under programs in the control panel. the virtual machine is nowhere to be found in fact both apps doent even show under search.

Type virtual into the search box. If nothing comes up, I suggest downloading it again and if that does not work, contact Microsoft support. I am sure you will get up and running. Once I created the machine on my pc, I saved the icon to my menu. Once that is done, run the machine, install the program(s) you want to use, and you will be good to go.

Thanks Jim, well typed Virual in the search and found the folder...it says folder empty,

Finally found virtual pc and xp mode, not sure which one I brought up first but it did come up, then tryed to install and still no go. Trying to figure what Im doing wrong here. Which program should be brought up first?

As I said in my earlier reply, I would re-download virtual pc and carefully follow directions. The above links are reference pages for downloading and getting support.

To be honest, when I did it, I just followed the directions and the virtual pc then resided on my desktop. I clicked it and voila! It looked like xp and I installed my programs. When I am done with the virtual side, I put it to sleep and then use my regular win 7. When I need the virtual, I then restart it.

I assume when you start your pc it says win7 professional? If so, at least you have that part installed right, therefore, you likely need to download and install virtual pc again. Beyond that, I have kind of exhausted my knowledge on the subject.

Finnally got the programs installed Ok one last question, when downloading files I have to be in the XP mode correct? Again Jim cant thnk you enough for your help!!

Doug,

That is correct. Think of it as 2 computers in one. If you do happen to accidentally download in win7 mode, you would need to copy/paste the file(s) downloaded to the xp side. I recommend downloading from the XP side for ease.
