DMR July 17 Race 9 (Oceanside Stakes - Part 2 !?)

Here is Race 9 at Del Mar opening day - also the Oceanside Stakes (this must be the 2nd part of the 2-race Oceanside Stakes begun in Race 6 ?? - same conditions, distance, surface - different horses )

(See Bill V's post here for Race 6 - the other Oceanside Stakes ...).

Segwin and I worked this race in a live tutorial this morning, but did not make it to the end before we had to stop. So here are my Contenders:

Either of #7 Joelito's last 2 lines put him on top with excellent Total Energy and LPR ratings both ways.

#8 Olympic at 20-1 ML is a minor bet across the board then forget it - losing form? or can it reverse last race Tandem with #9

#9 Rosengold - 5 in a row ...?

#4 Den's Legacy can compete just fine at this class level on Turf.

Pending bet-time odds, my wagers might be:

7-9 Win
8 WPS
Exacta Box or Dutch 4-7-9

Segwin, hope you get to complete this one later!

cheers,

Ted

Thanks again Ted for the help.

I went with 7,6,8 for a Trifecta. 8 was going off at very high odds but I liked what I saw (but it's a shipper). The 6 is an overseas shipper but its odds are lower and it is 1st time lasix which I thought would help.

I started a new thread (before I saw this post) about negative gain on shippers and is there a manual adjustment you should make in RSDD.

Again, thanks for the time Ted.

Race 6 and 9

Thanks guys for jumping in

If the crowd is as per usual and based on what I've seen from those who are heading to opening day its a beautiful thing.

Here are my readouts for race 9

Woof!

As I'm licking my wounds I'm trying to grasp what happened (I'm going to look for a video replay later to watch). My main worry was 8 at 20-1 odds and it came in 3rd. My other two pick were busy sight seeing.

I'm going to have to pull up that card and revisit now that I know the finish to maybe glean some useful information that I might have missed. Anyway it was a bunch of fun and interesting using RDSS. The daily race for DRF is Del Mar race 7. I'll try again and see what happens. DRF gives free PP for their daily race which appeals to my frugal (I didn't say cheap ) side. Unfortunately yesterday they must have had a glitch because I just kept getting a "not ready" message. While evaluating RDSS I like to have the DRF PP to glance at as well.

Bill, in your post you said "Right on top # 1 LP and #1 HE". What is LP & HE.

Thanks for the help with RDSS guys.

LP and HE

Hi Terry

LP and HE are very strong factors in turf races.

LP is Late Pace
HE is Hidden Energy or the sum of the 2nd and 3rd fractions

The winner # 10 was # 1 in both LP and HE

Good Skill with today's 7th race I am interested in the race because of the conditions and 3 horse off over 200 days
In a 6 furlong sprint !
