% Median help needed

How does one figure out the raw % median figure for the winner from a result chart?

This ties into something I am working on and really need help man.

Attaching a screen shot of a result chart from yesterday.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Rich. That's the Kinetic Generator from the EXDC program. Used the raw times and the results s/b raw - no adjustments.

EDIT: Checked on the Engen version from 1988 that came with Energy and same results. Ultra Scan's "Energy Profile" gives a slightly lower # but that could be because it does not use beaten lengths at the stretch call or it might have been programmed a bit different.

Okay. As a warmup for doing taxes, I'll bite.

Using Brohammer's old beaten length values of a head = .10 and a neck = .25;

Fraction 1:
(2640 - 57) / 48 = 53.81

Fraction 2:
(1320 + 11) / (73-48) = 53.24

Fraction 3:
(1980 + 46) / (112 - 73) = 51.95)

% Median:
(53.81 + 53.24) / (53.81 + 53.24 + 51.95) = 67.33%

The stretch times and beaten lengths shouldn't factor in at all.

By the way, if you are doing many of them, those alternate TSN/BRIS charts that show the beaten lengths like the past performances sure save a lot of time and figuring.

So it looks like in the days of Ultra Scan, the algorithm was slightly different.

Thanks for the tip on the alternate BRIS charts - much easier! I had been getting my charts straight from Equibase. Has this format been out long?
