Houndog,I am using the match up with the help of Synergism 2.In Syn 2 you have to run the race EP,SP or FW.I think the program runs better if you can setup either EP or SP.Do you think you can run the race thru Thoromation get the paragram of the race and use that setup for Syn 2?I realize one is an energy program and the other is velocity.Any others out there chime in as well.Jeff

Jeff, I agree with you that you may get better results if you can actually determine to run the race EP, SP, or FW. FW is a safe bet when you are not really sure, but may not be the most effective when the race should be set up using EP or SP. You could use Thoromation as you suggest, but the paragons (Energy), or Paradigm's as I think they are called in Thoromation are not always accurate. I think Doc stated in one of the Follow-Ups they were accurate within one about 65-70% of the time.

Jeff, another solution may be a simple Brohamer Model where you can determine the optimal setting by Track and Distance. This model does not have to be anything fancy as you will just be looking at winner's rankings on the various readouts. Also rerun the race with the different setups to see where your winner's are coming from. Some other people may have better ideas on this, but this is the way I would approach it. -----Houndog

Synergism II vs Thoromation

Jeff, I don't know if this helps but I think I read in one of the Follow-Ups is that Doc stated that in Synergism II proper paceline selection was more important than in Thoromation. In Thoromation contender selection was more important. This makes sense when you think of it as Synergism II is more of a linear program and readouts will not change on individual horses as they are added or removed from the program.

Thoromation on the other hand is sensitive to the horses being entered in the program as the adjustments will change as horses are entered or removed. I think Thoromation allows more leeway in pace line selection, but is not as tolerant of non-contenders being entered in the program. I think with Synergism II picking the proper paceline takes precedence over contender selection. With both programs paceline and contenders are important as with any program of this type, but was just trying to explain the difference between the 2.
