The day started earlly as at 5.00 am Pat picked me up. We went for breakfast with Spence . Then Patrick gave me a wonderful tour of the backstrech area. Everybody back there was so nice They all love the big guy. After the tour Pat drove me around town showing me all the sites of downtown and the lake. We stopped and got supplies and Patrick was nice to drive me to a Notery and a Postoffice so I could get so personal stuff taken care of We made it to the track early. It was a great day with Pace and Cap and friendly guys from the Paceadvantage group It was so nice to meet Lou Sosa and Pat and to see Chris and Mike Sal hope to see more winning smiles today. Im sure I will Barb was the star of the group But she can't budge me with anything but my win bets although Patrick and I just missed a big trifecta as we paired up for a trucker buddy attack. did ok but never got anything over a $8.00 winner with a Binderimprover which I spotted at the work shop friday night Green Monster in race 1 Poor Ted I dont think he got a seconds rest by the end of the night his voice was gone. Thank you to Charlie and Mitsy for a nice time at there home Can't wait for today Bill V. |

I forgot to add that the Pace Advantage people were very welcoming and warm. Yesterday Al C. asked me if I would like to accompany him into the Paddock before the Alabama, which of course I took him up on. I brought a hat with me and should have worn it to be in company with all the hats worn in there at that time. Here's an example
It may not be anything you all are interested in, but I collect pictures of hats at race tracks, so this was an obvious one for my collection. All kidding aside, that was a great experience watching them get the horses ready and watching the way the owners and trainers handled their babies. Al was kind enough to point out the various people and give me background info on them, all of which I have tucked away for the future. Today is another day and we are starting it off with breakfast with Richie P, his girl friend and Bill V. another start to another wonderful day.

Ted,
As I write this at 12:45PM Sunday, I hear lots of thunder. And it just started to rain. I'm getting a double dose as rain is predicted for AP as well, with the turf already labelled YLD. Anyway, thanks again for enabling me to upgrade from Val1 to Val4. Here are the results of my 1st full day with it: SAR 1 - Won/Passed $8.20 4 - Won/Passed $3.00 9 - Won/Passed $5.10 10- Lost* 11- Won $10.40 MTH: 2- Lost* 4- Lost 5- Won/Passed $3.60 8- Lost/Passed 10-Lost/Passed 11- Won/Passed $6.20 12- WON $19.00 - always great to do it on the day's final race! *I missed both the Alabama ($13.00) and the 2nd at MTH ($17.20) because I simply (& stupidly) failed to hide the "other than early" or "other than late" horses as appropriate. Oh well, I'm looking forward to better days, like last Thursday for example. Paul |

I'm glad to see that the weather hasn't dampened (no pun intended) everyone's spirits. I avoid wet tracks as all my models are for dry tracks only.
But JUST HOLD ON in today's ninth race is surely tempting me. At seven furlongs, my biggest predictors are DCL 1 and LPR 1 at 45% each and this horse has both in his favor. What to do, what to do? |

Richie and Karen drove up early from Connecticut and we had breakfast at the Saratoga Diner, where Bill surprised Rich by joining us (courtesy again of chauffeur Patrick!)

Al Ted Rich
The traditional Saratoga Sunday slop fest. We were rained upon 3 separate times! Before the first race, after setting up, wiring the tables and unpacking, rain started falling sideways, pushing us further and further into the centre of the tent. The previous days' sunny weather had almost made me forget where we were. Phew ... Mike and Eleanor W, Barb, Ted seeking shelter in the stands during the 8th race deluge. Some of the Sunday PaceandCap crowd: from left, Bill V, Ted C, Patrick K, Eleanor W, Karen, Lou S, Mike W, Richie P, Barb C, Don E.

Love the pictures! Especially the one of Ted, Bill V., and Richie. They are the heart and soul of PaceCap.

2nd Day With Val4 (Sunday)
Due to weather considerations at both tracks (SAR & AP), I only worked 3 races at each. Hit 2/3 at SAR: the 3rd @$4.10 & the 9th@$11.40,and 2/3 at AP as well: the 1st @$3.40, and the 6th which paid a paltry $64.80!!! Including the 6/5 favorite in the exacta (#1 before hides), I also had the $208 exacta. So 4/6 overall with a couple of decent mutuels.
Looking forward to day #3. Due to other commitments, that will most likely be Travers day. -Wagercapper |
