Best days are far behind him and his fielding is not that great.

Your right about his fielding but you have him on your team for his bat,one of the best clutch hitters.

I just love that Manny is in the N.L. West......NOT!!!!!!!!

Dodgers lost tonight, but Manny's bat could really change things out west.

Manny is a cancer to any team he goes to with that attitude. Maybe Torre will light a fire under his ass although with the salaries these superstars make that is kinda out.

One REALLY appreciates the work ethic/hustle by A-Rod who is the games greatest player when you compare them to jerkoffs like MR.

Would have loved to see Manny play and pull his showing up antics against the likes of Bob Gibson. Guarantee after the first knockdown he loses the act.

Richie, agree with Bob Gibson. Right-handed hitters especially had a hard time against him. In 1968 he posted a 1.12 ERA with 28 complete games. Amazing for a starting pitcher. Don Drysdale also was not against knocking down a batter or two during the course of a game.

Favorite Team

Long time Chicago Cubs fan. Hope to see them in the World Series one of these days.

I attended a Cubs game when they were playing the Dodgers. Kenny Holtzman was pitching against Sandy Koufax. It was a real pitcher's duel and Kenny Holltzman had a no hitter going into the 8th or 9th inning. The Cubs won 2-1. Sandy Koufax has always been one of my favorites. He wasn't a big guy but it was amazing how much velocity he had on his fastball.

He did all of this despite having arthritis of the elbow. He soaked his elbow in ice and continued to pitch for several years. I could only imagine how painful it would be to pitch with arthritis and he is a great example of the dedication he had which is lacking in many of the modern era baseball players.

Favorite team

Growing up I liked the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Giants. Growing up in an area with no major league teams (Seattle) at the time, I was more interested in watching a good game or to see how a favorite player was doing.

Drysdale's reaction to the intentional walk: "Why waste four pitches, just hit the batter with the first one."
