Words of Wisdom......notes taken from seminars
I am not sure to start this thread in this section.....
but I would like to share my notes from various seminars that I had taken with Howard Sartin and fellow Sartin Methodologists as speakers.....I believe the notes were taken in the early 1990's.... Sartin: The "Gift of Prophecy" is what we are after..... Dwell on 70% win rate....Don't worry about the other 30% of races... Win Consistently enough to be successful--"We think we know enough" What is your focus on--- Modeling is a way to predict the future....."Late Energy---"evaluate as a model" Handicapping is an investment in your self-esteem...It is Work/It is not Play!! Diagnosing a set of facts-"handicapping"- then we make a prognosis....Then We prescribe a bet-----60%/40% win bets.. It is a skilled field; there are no absolutes...It is the ability to Adapt----"track profiles and winner's profiles" to be continued..... |

The following are from Marion Jones: (a specialist in tandem races)
Have feel of race in your mind--who is going to take the lead... What is the race shape in today's race..... Before depending on the computer program..make some comparisons of each horses- what did the horse do before the last race.....What shape was the horse in for the last race versus today's race...(i.e. in the horse's last race, he was coming off a six month layoff...and today the horse had a nice prep race for today's race) Marion Jone's attitude....treat horseracing as a business.... Luck is knowing what you're doing and doing it... Know the Track!!!! what is the average winning 3rd fractions... From result charts----Fast 3rd fractions or Slow 3rd fractions----this tells us whether early or late average are winning Fast 3rd fractions....late average are winning Slow 3rd fractions......early speed are winning |

From Jim Bradshaw-track coach from Oklahoma:
Belief System---He knew that it could be done… Horses are predictable…”herd instinct”- behavioral patterns... Know the pace-----Final times were not the answer in track and field….. Find out the pace that a horse runs well against…..Slow horses are slow horses against today’s pace… Picking contenders and pace lines are two critical factors ….focus on horses that can win today’s race…knowing who has a chance/ an opportunity to win… Stick to Conviction… Pine Bluff versus Lil E Tee….even though Lil E Tee won Derby…day in and day out, Pine Bluff is a faster horse…Bradshaw will always choose Pine Bluff… Last edited by lone speed; 12-15-2012 at 01:00 AM. |

Jim "the Hat" Bradshaw was also fond of saying...
"Horse racing is an easy game. When the gates open one horse gets the lead, if no other horse can pass it, it WINS!"
