Also, when ENGEN ask for track record or par time, what is the purpose in the program of such number?

Pino:

Total energy in Engen is NOT FPS. It is for use in the Energy program. When entering every line for a single horse in Engen and then looking at all of the Total Energy numbers you will be able to tell at least 2 basic things. First, you will be able to tell the horses ability or class level. Just remember that each distance will produce a different range of total energy numbers so you might want to put just one distance in Engen. Second, you will be able to tell when a horse did not run near peak performance. For example. If you have 5 lines in for a horse and they are all 6 furlong races and 4 of the total energy numbers are +-1 of 170 and one total energy is 165 then you know the 165 was a poor race for the horse and you would not use the line.
