Early Evaluation of 2018 Kentucky Derby Match-Up
One month to go
Looks like we have a horse race in this year's rendition of the Kentucky Derby.... Looking forward to Justify's next performance in the Santa Anita Derby or the Arkansas Derby depending on which path trainer Bob Baffert chooses. McKinzie has a slight injury and Baffert taking some precautionary moves and will skip the Santa Anita Derby with McKinzie. Here are the top contenders: Mendelssohn, Justify and Audible |

Trainer Todd Pletcher is loaded with Derby contenders
Some trainers seem to get their 3 year-olds to the starting gate of the Kentucky Derby more often than most.....

The Ark. is shaping up to be a good race.
John R. Velazquez has decided to stick with Vino Rosso and Castellano has switched to Audible and off of Bold d' Oro. These decisions have more do with the connections both trainers and owners, that give them many winners and high class horses throughout the year than the derby horses ability themselves. A smart business decision . I'll look at them a little more after the Ark. Derby. Mitch44 Last edited by Mitch44; 04-11-2018 at 01:52 PM. |

Ark dby
Now that were're at the last of the preps, i see O solo mio and Magnum cum laude going at. So i'm going with Combatant and Tenfold to close. I had Quip in the TBD but i think that race is too over rated over the past few years.
I've been quiet, but no more. My Derby analysis will follow once i know whose in. I wheeled the #6 in the last at GP and finally caught a 50-1 shot 2nd. Gotta go. Have to play my 2 horses here. Bill, i hope your feeling better. Will talk later. Omar. |
