Having again re-read POW and working through the Yellow Manual as we speak I'm struck by two things.

Firstly, I'm going to forget about developing my own spreadsheets, certainly for the time being. RDSS seems quite reasonably priced and I shall progress to the trial version when the time is right.

Secondly, the Yellow Manual, basic phase III I've heard it referred to on one of the audios. Basic??!! I've been reading it thinking that things sound reasonable etc. Then going back through to make notes I'm finding I can hardly miss anything out. Every sentence has meaning. It is forcing me to go over the same stuff repeatedly, but this is good.

Anyway, to the point of this post. As this is the new member intro thread, is there actually a thread where people discuss issues relating to the learning of the methodology or should I just start a thread & ask questions as I go along? I don't have any as yet, but I'm sure I will have at some point.

Thanks.

Dave,

This is a good section of the Forum (the Welcome to the Sartin Methodology forum) to start a new thread for any specific question you have pertaining to the Methodology as a whole. If you have questions about specific approaches or specific software, such as The Matchup or RDSS, there are Forums devoted to those areas and you can ask questions pertaining to those there. If you have betting psychology or money management questions, just fire away.

It's pretty casual though, so please do ask any and all of your questions somewhere! If the question needs to get re-filed elsewhere, not to worry. The answers and your learning process will most likely benefit many others as well.

The important thing, after a certain point, is to just jump in and do it - work a race, by one means or another! Win or lose, the process of coming to a decision about how, or whether, to exploit your analysis of a race, or a series of races, becomes the most valuable feedback you can get about how to master this game. The journey of a thousand miles begins with ...

Looking forward to your eventual success!

yours,

Ted

Thank you very much Ted.

I'm genuinely excited about using the Methodology. And will be back as soon as I have a question.

Thanks

I've read the Yellow Manual cover to cover today & am now planning to read Dynamics, Chaos & 70 - 88 of the Follow Up.

As far as the Yellow manual goes, whilst I appreciate that part of the approach has been updated, do PaceandCap members think that I ought to be reading this and the other manuals noted above as general background before learning thoroughly the issues discussed in the latter issues of the Follow Up or that I ought to also be thoroughly learning the contents of the earlier published manuals?

I'd just like to point out that I'm not looking to take any shortcuts and if learning everything is the optimum way to go then I'll happily proceed in that manner.

Thanks.

I would take the earlier nuggets of information and learn from all the material provided, then lean towards the later information in my betting strategy.

As a new reader of the Yellow Manual my initial thoughts were that it was rather light on worked examples. Perhaps this was The Doc's intention. Everything that I read made sense though, I didn't feel myself questioning anything. Again, this was very probably his intention when putting the information together.

Also as an English reader I'm perhaps fortunate that I don't have to get rid of any preconceived ideas about what it takes to win betting on American Racing. I'm more of a blank canvas than most.

Before I go back to the Yellow Manual I'm going to read through the Dynamics manual, starting right now.

Greetings. Am a new member, but old Sartin client from the "good ole days".
Look forward to chatting with you folks.
I have, right off the bat, 2 questions.
1. Is there a site, on the web, you prefer for watching the races on your PC ?
2. Howard used to have a lot of the betting/money management bundled into some programs for a hand held computer. Is there any sort of on-line version of that available ?
Thanks

Hi Dorianmode, and welcome (back) to the Methodology!

You asked about bet construction tools: here is a thread from last with some references: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6687

A lot of people regularly use the exotic wager calculator tool (just remembered that!)

Online ADW's (Advance Deposit Wagering) such as TwinSpires, Bet America, Premier Turf Club, Xpressbet and others offer video. I use a good rebate shop with video of most tracks. Depends on which one suits you (and where you reside).

If you like Woodbine, they broadcast their races free each racing day: www.woodbineentertainment.com/Woodbine/Racing/Pages/LiveRacing.aspx

BTW, a handy way to Google Search for things on Paceandcap.com is to use the 'site search' facility. Type this in Google: site:paceandcap.com exotic wager calculator. Or any other search term, constrained to this website.

All the best!

Ted
