9/2 West Coast Match Ups
Let's get a head start on the upcoming holiday weekend. Here are two races today, one from Golden Gate and one from Del Mar. Both are on synthetic going 6 furlongs...
4th race at GG 5:16 Eastern / 2:16 Pacific #1 Ran early last out and missed by a nose at 6.5 furlongs at Del Mar. Returns to GG where he has run well OTE from 4th 5th or 6th at the 1C. #2 Returns to sprinting today. Previously shows an OTE style. #3 Another OTE runner who pressed a fast pace at DMR last out before fading. #4 Has run early before, but recent races show an OTE style. #5 Definite sustained runner. #6 Another definite OTE runner. My initial feel on this race is that it will favor an Early style. I will go with the #1. He ran early versus a slower pace last out but has also handled faster paces previously running OTE. 5th at DMR 7:00 Eastern/ 4:00 Pacific #8 and #14 are scratched #9 is an early horse who just fought and won vs a fast 22.0 46.0. I see two horses that may press in second position, who seem weaker than the #9 though. They are... ... #2 who fought for the lead at Hollywood last out in 22.1 and then stopped badly. I see #9 has lines at SA and Hol that are better than that. ...#12 who was 2nd at 1C and 2c vs a slower (23.1 46.3) pace than #9 handled last out with early fighting. #13 is the fastest OTE runner, but with the favorable early scenario, I will take #9 to win. Everyone's welcome to jump in... |

...If you're gonna be last, at least make it a CLEAR last, like 3 1/2 lengths behind the next-to-last horse!

I didn't get to look at the third race today, but good luck in that one. As for the 6, not sure what happened in the last race, but prior to that some nice runs from 3rd or 4th position. Could be in that spot today, but I went ahead and picked the #9. If he doesn't win, I hope you get the 6 home...

Delmar race
Agreed that 9 should control pace unless last is sign of declining form (note worst SR in PPs). I think 6 gets first run at him but the 13 seems to run consistently better TTs, should be gaining all the way. Kind of like 13 a little better over 9, and put 6 and 9 in place positions Good luck here... |
