A look back at the Fountain of Youth
I wanted to post a result chart of the Fountain of Youth....I was focusing on the early fractions of the race....What on earth was the jockey on Majestic Hussar thinking.....besides Breeders Cup Sprint later on in the year in November.....
If Pletcher had high aspirations for this colt for the Kentucky Derby, he has only one more race (Florida Derby or Santa Anita Derby) to get this colt, Violence to adjust its energy distribution to sustain or get that %Percent Median to be lower than 69%....Orb may have won this race but the real "ability horse" was Violence as he moved into that hot 6 furlong pace of 1:08:85.... Violence on raw fractions; moved 22.80 into that hot pace for his second fraction of the 1 1/16th race....and was only beaten by 1/2 length by Orb. Orb ran a default race as Violence clearly ran the best race on energy and ability... Violence was also coming off a 2 month layoff and Violence gave Orb 6 pounds as Violence carried 122 lbs to Orb's 116 lbs... Last edited by lone speed; 02-24-2013 at 02:03 PM.
