Going back 6 lines
I did, and do once in a while if necessary. Today, March 5 2020 GP race 4. btw, I use free picks by way of Bris, and the trainer/stable was Darley. Anyway, All of the lines were great, but #4 had no route turf races unless I went back 6 lines. Which I did. My third choice won and paid $15.60, 2$ mutual.

Nice job Wally. When called for there is no reason not to go back to get a line on a true contender. I do it myself but on a limited basis. Going past line 5 gets you into the realm of an entirely different horse then what you are looking at today.

if coming off a layoff ,i may go back to its most recent similar previous layoff, no matter how many races as long as its within a year. it just makes sense. i have no records of how this has worked out.

Speaking of.... which line would you use for this horse?
New here... I assume this is the right place for this....
So.... which line would you use? I have my Perceptor set at 3 lines back. It picked the first line.... I would be inclined to use line 5.... 7F race 1. Because it's the closest to today's race distance without being 'short'. (I seem to remember reading a post where Sartin said something to the effect of, "...if you can't find an exact PP distance line, use one where the horse went FURTHER than today's distance.") 2. Also, 107 days back.... well..... granted, it's not 30, 45, or 60 days back..... but at least it's not 300 days back! LOL. |

Every now and then I have found there are times where a horse had no similar distance or surface comparable to today butthe 6th line did. That's when I go back to 6th line. Happens rarely but it does happen.

If this horse was a contender for me I would use line 6 .

This horse ran an exceptional race @20-1. But was aided by what could have been an extreme rail bias left over from the 25 th . See my post re Rail bias at Tampa. http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12936
After winning MC 10k next step on the ladder is C8kn2l not c25n2l. I would avoid this horse next out. Last edited by barryt; 04-28-2020 at 12:16 PM. Reason: Added URL |
