Graveyard of favorites - Pace and Cap

For many a year,the old Saratoga oval has been dubbed "the Graveyard of favorites," and I think I can suggest a very good reason for that title.

For years I wondered about the old "horses for courses" idea following the S. Cal circuit. Never could quite put a verified reason to it until I looked at the Eastern counterpart at NYRA.

Belmont is a "balanced course" and Saratoga, as big as it is, very often is a speed paradise. Horses doing well at the Big Sandy come there and are met with differing energy requirements and simply cannot make the change. Hence one of the possibilities for the title. Another is the psychological overwhelming of logic based upon the two best colts of the century meeting defeat there too.

7th at Saratoga: use best TPP turf lines and you, OFTEN get the exacta.

I meant this to go elsewhere but it still is Saratoga
