New Handicapping Competition for 2012

E-Ponies.com Handicapping Contest Series

The E-ponies.com handicapping league will be replaced by a series of single-day contests. The following are featured race days in contest:

*Mar 03 - Santa Anita Handicap
*Mar 31 - Florida Derby
*Apr 07 - Wood Memorial
*Apr 14 - Bluegrass Stakes
*May 05 - Kentucky Derby
*May 19 - The Preakness Stakes
*Jun 13 - Belmont Stakes
*TBC - The Haskell Invitational
*Aug 04 - The Whitney
*Aug 18 - Alabama Stakes
*Aug 25 - The Travers
*Sep 01 - The Woodward

Contest Format

*Eight races per featured race day
*Contestants pick a horse in all eight races (with an alternate in each race)
*Picks must be posted no later than on half hour prior to first post
*Contestant will earn payoff for win, place, and show for his/her picks (same as League Play)
*Picks must be posted to the forum. In the event of a technical problem with the site, picks can be emailed to the contest admin.
*Players do not have to register with the contest administrator, but all winners will be verified as US citizens before being named as winner.

Contest Prizes

*Race day prize – Each featured race day winner is entered into drawing for iPad2 or 46”flat panel TV. Top score gets five entries, second place gets three entries, third place gets one entry.
*Overall winner for the season based on cumulative bankroll – choice of iPad2 or 46” flat panel TV and $10 per race in actual win bet wagers in the Breeders’ Cup (all Breeders’ Cup races).
*Both overall winner and runner up get all E-ponies.com products and services free for a year.
*These prizes are based on the assumption that the competition has at least 150 participants. If less than 150, prize pool will be reduced, but at least one grand prize (flat panel TV or iPad) and one cash prize of at least $150 will be part of the prize pool.

Rider Cup Team Placement and Standings

*Three seats on the Rider Cup will be determined by the Pick A Race A Day competition. This contest will fill in the remaining nine seats.
*Featured race day winners will automatically be added to the Rider Cup team (assuming they are interested in playing). If all twelve featured race day winners elect to join the Rider Cup team, and all twelve featured race days are won by a different person, that would make up the twelve starter positions on the Rider Cup.
*Alternates on the Rider Cup will be determined by maintaining a running total score throughout the contest series, based on cumulative WPS payoffs.
*Rider Cup team members and alternates, as needed, will be chosen in rank order from the running total score.

Updates as needed will be posted to this thread. Tell your friends and come represent!
