So many riders suffer a big drop after they lose the bug. It happened to my rider Beverly Burress after she won the leading apprentice title at Oaklawn Park. The trainers really want that 5 pounds.

Cauthen is almost a perfect example of what I spoke about in that post. Something else that happened was that Steve took a pretty nasty spill. When he came back trainers were hesitant to book him until they could see that he wasn't "riding sore". As a result the mounts he obtained were subpar.

Great example, For The Lead.
