Big day on the turf in Toronto
Rain is predicted for Sunday and we have been off the turf most of the week (rain over the weekend kept it off as well). No turf scheduled before the big races and they have been protecting the inner two lanes on the course all week.
Good European perspective is to be reviewed here. http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-rac.../international LONG stretch, soft going=everything the European contingent loves. I have a friend who is a bookie in Northern England (near Doncaster) and he relates to me that their runners LOVE the turf course here since it is so much like their own. Irish breds: at one point over the last few years, IF you had bet all the Irish breds to win, you still would have seen a profit. Do NOT shy away from the three year olds as they have held their own over the years. Same thing often happens at the Arc....They love the soft going...

Something I never would has guessed about this weekend's fare.

No pace lines lead to best guesses.

Length of stretch, 1440 feet: FAVORS the late running European contingent, IF the course is wet (rain IS predicted later in the day), the Irish bred horses step up, Euro riders do very well here (no surprises, track is very straight forward and wide enough to make late moves IF you have the horsepower under you). Pace of race is usually DOG SLOW with a one run move taking the cake.

Pattison Canadian International G1
Great race! Result 8-5-6 #8 Erupt pays $26.30
For those using RDSS with NewPace, try going to the NewPace screen, switch to TrackMaster Speed Ratings (so we can rate the Euros), then sort by the High SR. These SR ratings use the 'population sample' method, or - for horses with 10 ratable races, take the 3rd highest Speed Rating. The Winner Erupt appears on top. This is one method we've evolved to rate Euro shippers, especially to the big Breeders' Cup races, and to this prestigious Canadian International G1 stakes. You don't need the NewPace module to find this info (though right now, it's easier) - just check all the horses for their 3rd highest TrackMaster SR if they have 10 races, 2nd highest if 6-9 lines, and highest if 5 or fewer. Alas this method did not reveal the winner in the EP Taylor Stakes stacked with Euros. Stay tuned for the Breeders' Cup races with good Euro shippers. Ted
