I also look at things that Sartin never emphacized: toteboard patterns when possible, workout/prep patterns when necessary. Aside from that, it's all what Doc, Hat, Richie, Shipper and other smart Methodology practitioners taught me.

Since I believe not every race is a pace play I will emphasize other factors in certain races. So I do not follow the Sartin Methodology 100% of the time.

To answer the question directly, most of the time, no. I do, however, always use elements of Doc's teachings with other things I've learned (from others), and of course, from my own personal experience and research.

Let me just add, I am strictly an exotic bettor--especially Superfectas. If I were a win bettor only, then I'd probably do so utilizing Doc's methodology 100%, as I feel it's second to none.

I also concentrate on cheap (and very cheap) horses, as I have found that is where the big money is in exotic payouts. I also have found a way to successfully analyze maiden races, including those races with horses that have less than three pacelines; also races with more than one first time starter. And to do so successfully, I can not do so strictly following Doc Sartin's methodology.
