Propelled by Powerline
An interesting coincidence evident only to Matchers.
To spice up this dismal looking March 31st (southern Ontario) I thought I would try for the first time a DRF tournament. I found a couple of feeders that cost me $21 to enter total. Up against 11 contestants in one and 17 in the other. One is a credit builder and the other feeds into the $300,000 DelMar challenge in July. Now I have no illusions of grandeur or anything but for a first time experience with this stuff I did okay. I made one or two tweaks to my matching to try and catch more winners in a row and cashed in 6 of 10. In everyday play I pan for gold looking for patterns and so my hit rate is modest. But you can't do that in these contests because you have to play what they give you. However the last play at GP in the 11th was one in my wheelhouse. You know how I like Lone Early horses. Well along comes Powerline. Never holds a lead but did have FPLR. Checked his last two races where there were 4 or 5 others that could and did press him for the lead. Today there were only two others contenders that had leads by the half on turf. They were both a while ago. Last out Powerline fought for two calls and folded. This was by no means a slam dunk but I thought there was a good chance things would be different. And they were. Powerline took the lead and was never headed. Powerlines powerline powered me past three other contestants into second and free entries into further feeders tomorrow. It was my only real money bet of the day and it wasn't a bad score for a lone early. I wish Powerline was running again tomorrow. Actually he is but his name will be different. Just got to find him. Thanks for reading guys and thanks for the goodwill. These contests today are huge fields and or mostly stake races. We shall see.
