Question, I read somewhere, and forgive me since I am still very new to pace handicapping but is it true that S-R is better for horse than R-S?

Wow I didnt see that one coming. I had 1 and 6. Something told me Super would get pushed too much for the early pace. 1:45.18, Is it me or was Title COntender the Rabbit to wear down Super for Treasury Bill even though Treasury Bill didnt have it in his first Route

believe that 4 wide in the first turn may have cost Oxbow...horse needs better post positions....but looks like he's getting in good shape for the derby....we'll need to keep an eye on that Smarty Jones race for sure...but on my original run on this race Will Take Charge came up 7th on BLBL but did have a 2 in the EPR column...did use the Smarty Jones PL...with a DRF-VAR of 89-14 not sure if that pace line will help in the coming months...we'll see

Afterthoughts....

Huge longshot got this race...

Happy for D.Wayne Lukas......

A couple of thoughts after the fact....

9 times out of 10....I still stand firm with the #10 Super 99 as the top choice for this race or matchup..

Maybe it wasn't his day...but if the same group of contenders meet again in the Arkansas Derby...I know who I will be wagering on...without any hesitations....

afterthoughts also:...I think that Super 99 might be better off in the S.A. Derby..than coming back to ARK....sometimes that traveling takes its toll...and I just think he's better off on his home track....plus I think he's much better than what's out there now, believe Oxbow would give him problems if they face each other again.....

Give the horse some credit!

Now I don't know who would beat whom in 9 out of 10 meetings, or whether a four wide trip hurt Oxbow; what I do know is that "Will Take Charge" is a horse who is in the habit of outrunning his odds! A classic over-achiever.

Some time ago, on this site, we were asked to briefly describe how we handicap a race; I believe my singular contribution - at least I thought so - was to describe how I would go over a horse's PP's and make a personal comment about each one. Eventually I moved to my own short hand notations; OUCHIE! should be self explanatory, HD, will take a head and continue to run, HD HD, will be headed for two calls and not quit, and of course OA, over-achiever, a horse who outruns his odds. The notations could be about where he/she is their form cycles. You can have as many as you want or as few as you think you need.

What this will do is get your head into todays race, and you'll be amazed at what you've learned. And then go to computer. Doing things a little differently will push you into becomming your own expert, and with that comes the confidence to make those unusal but profitable wagers.

Regards,
chris
