Richie,

I am really enjoying the way you are breaking down these races. You are an excellent teacher. The screen shots especially help out a lot. The idea of the "Measuring Stick" horse is a concept I learned from Pizzolla. I don't know if he thought of it nor does it matter. It is just an excellent way of having a contender selection cutoff and works well for both dirt and turf using TPR numbers. Ironically, it doesn't lend itself to turf very well using PPF numbers. Pizzolla called it the Power Target horse. Another concept he used that works very well with TPR numbers is the Power Connector. With Power Connectors, you are looking for horses that have top 3 numbers in both EPR & LPR.

Please keeping breaking down these races.

Pizzolla is real sharp player and a winner for years. Seems in fashion elsewhere to bash him.

Regarding his power connector stuff you could do that with the Tpr numbers probably. Use EPR in lieu of PBS and LFR instead of FFR. Kind of a makeshift deal man!

hey I'll do some FG turf and see how things shake.

Actually Using EPR instead of PBS would NOT work man. 2 different ballgames here.

My bad

It's definitely two different things where the numbers are concerned, but the concept is the same. You're looking for horses that are both strong on the pace and good finishers. Not necessarily the top in both, but among the best in the race - top 3. These types of horses are going to hit the board, if not win (win has a little to do with running style and pace of the race too!).

It's good stuff Richie, keep it flowin'.
