How does RDSS determine ESP ratings?
I'm looking at the 3 horse in today's eighth at Aqueduct. Three races back, the horse does a wire job with an ever-increasing margin over the second horse.
Yet he's assigned an "SP" rating for that race. The horse gets the same designation two races back where it's 4-5 lengths behind for each call except the finish. Fortunately there's a manual override feature, so it's no big deal. I'm just curious. |

Percent Med.
Hello Clore
The amount of percent medium of a horses total energy will determine its ESP running style in RDSS Yes the three horse won wire to wire in its win 3 races back Look at its % med number 67.8 It ran the same 67.8 two back and then used a bit more energy in the last race going up to 68.3 The bigger this number would mean the horse used more of its total energy earlier than later The wire to wire win while running as an SP is saying the horse was well placed and won easily It may have those ever increasing numbers because the horses chasing Palmer were using more energy early and Palmer had gas left in the tank late If you go to horse # 5 Temorary Saint You can see how, because this horse runs many different running styles how the early and Ep ESP Percent Med numbers are very high at or near 70.0 and the P Esp are in the 68.5- 69.0 range Hope that helps |
