That's what happens when a track gets a casino. In the old days, there would have to be a foot of snow on the track or -30F temperatures to keep them from racing, and then it'd only be one day. Now that racing is a liability, they welcome every chance to cancel, in my opinion.

It wouldn't be that hard for Philly to cancel a few days in early December and winterize their track, and a few in March to revert it. Penn doesn't have as many problems as Philly does, and they're getting the same basic weather.

Turfway, which knew it wouldn't get casino gaming, had a lot of cancellation problems. They solved it by putting in an all-weather surface.

well when PARX does go live the fields and race conditions should be good
lay offs could be a problem

Talk with a source on the backstretch and he said it was a go for today. Nobody knows why they cancelled.
