Got my super in the Remsen. Only play I made.
10-1 on 3rd and 4th. Lost money. The bet cost more than it paid! Boy, that was fun. Great race though. What a stretch run between Honor Code and Cairo Prince. HC by a bobbed nostril hair.

You titled this thread "Cigar Mile". You should have titled it "The Cigar Mile HANDICAP"! I have posted the entries and result chart for this race. After looking at these, I suggest you click on the following link and read that thread. http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9176

Great thread you linked there.
As your examples clearly show it is amazing what an advantage fully comprehending race conditions can be. It so happens to be a weakness of mine, and always has been. When I passed the written portion of the trainer test (which IIRC was accomplished in the mid 90%s) the Steward that did the grading complimented and congratulated me, but advised I needed work on race conditions! Are you a racing Steward Mr FTL? Just kidding, but your point is well received and one I will remember. For one thing it helped provide value to a race that appeared might have little. For another it adds another tool for simply making sense of a race that wasn't becoming clear enough for me to even risk playing. Thanks for the post.

Good stuff FLT. I didn't know that they had "handicap" races.
As they say "it's what you don't know that can hurt ya".

man. I hate to hit a pic 4 and lose $$$$ on it...but when you have 3 horses under $5.00 that's gonna happen....but at least my top pic Flat Out did his thing...whose workin' the 2 stakes races at HOL for Sunday??? not sure if that turf is gonna be firm since it rained friday...lookin' at the G1 race 6 (6) Admiral Kitten (4) Jack Milton (9) Rookie Sensation. G1 race 8 wow this one is tough...(8) Better Lucky (6) Dayatthespa if Javier keeps her away from the rail (5) Tiz Flirtatious..hate when she runs short distance. How about some California comments on these 2 races...good luck all!!!

Which Line
Thank you so much FTL
May I ask which line you would use As you can see I did not have Flat Out because I did not give him a line would you have used line 2 or 3 ? Thanks always Bill |

Not that I was asked, but if you bypass the two 10 furlong lines and input lines 3-4-5-6-7 only one of them DID NOT make this horse the top BL/BL pick. Of course I used mostly 7 furlong lines because this race was a one turn mile. Even Groupie Dolls 120.8 last did not beat out 4 of the 5 lines from Flat Outs PPs.
Also note that the E/L info for Flat outs shorter races are all near zero, being plus or minus 5.0 which has classic 7 furlong markings, especially when most of the rest were entered off 7 furlong lines. Note the odds on Private Zone made it a lucrative place and show bet - best return on the board. Last edited by Bill Lyster; 12-01-2013 at 12:43 PM. |
