Distance specialists?

I'm curious if any members hone in on certain race distances as their primary focus.

I remember "Mikesal" specializing in 6f races and back in the day Bill V and myself would always look around for some 7f race (center line bucks on e/l graph was nice while Wdb needed a bigger early stick. Tampa too!) to work.

Are there certain distances that when you see them make you feel all happy inside even before working?

Here are today's 7f races
aqu - 3,8
cd - 6,8,10
crc - 1,4
hol - 1,9
rp - 3
wdb - 6.8.9

Enjoy the day!

Certain rankings work consistently well for me at AQU one mile races on the main track.

My top rated LP and DCL horse have won 60% of them so far in 2009 and usually the horse is ranked first in both categories, making it easy.

Some of the prices have been less than I'd like, but it's a nice edge to have. The average mutuel still comes out to $6.60.

Hi Rich and Clore

I do well at the "between" distance like 7.0 and 8.3

In 5.5 sprints I usally do well looking at the top 2 LP
horses

At Philly when they run 6.5, 7.0 and 8.3 distance
races I look at the HE/dv ranking and TD/dv readouts from Entropy
I imagine the Entropy and Deceleration readouts
in RDSS are comperable .. In the Entropy program
the Td/dv ranking is a good readout
to see whether a horse can stretch out

For sprints 5.0 - 6.5, if I see 2 speedballs on the E/L running 1 and 2 to the 2nd call
I am willing to take the rubber band off the bankroll and go with the win and exotics.
These races have helped to keep my ROI in the black.

For 7F I also noticed that the winners tend to hover around the Veritical axis of the E/L
and the early birds don't make it.
I have no records to support this but this distance seems
like an opportunity to start collecting data.
Does anyone have 7F records that they are willing to share ?

Here are the results of 438 races at 7 furlongs. These races were run at a variety of tracks. Keep in mind that this is as general as it comes. It is various tracks, all genders, all types of classes, all types of conditions and all surfaces.

I focused on the race as the winners ran it, since any facts based on methodology stats would vary from player to player as everyone has their own thoughts on pace line selection and therefore one persons results would not be the same as another.

202 winners were either 1st or 2nd at the first call = 46.12%
270 winners were either 1st,2nd or 3rd at the first call = 61.64%
250 winners were either 1st or 2nd at the second call = 57.08%
314 winners were either 1st,2nd or 3rd at the second call = 71.69%
377 winners were either 1st or 2nd at the stretch call = 86.07%
411 winners were either 1st,2nd or 3rd at the stretch call = 93.84%

FTL,

Thank You for the data, I appreciate it. I will be at least tracking the E/L numbers & TE
and as your data indicates to me late pace has the advantage at 7F. So I will include LPR,
HE and TPP. I was always wary of playing 7F as I considered it an oddball distance is it a
long sprint or a short route ? Ah but now I have a game plan.

Regards,

Ernie
