Arlington Stars and Stripes Marathon 12 f turf
9 horses. On the surface of it the 1-4-6 and 9 run early, with the 4-6-9 needing open lengths on the lead; the 1 has pressed closely and won from several off. Keep the 1
The 2 and 7 are out; 2 is first time on turf; 7 has only a NW1X and is a SP type. Unsure of style as horse tried for lead 3 x and failed. If so, its out, but has pressed slower paces and does not make up enough ground. The 3 lost by a nk to the 1, 3 back, was claimed by Mike Maker, the trainer of the 1. Runs more sustained, but has run mid pack recently 4-4-3 (134.2) and 4-3-1 (136.8). The Pizza Man is most accomplished in the field, but will be last or almost last until the stretch. Arlington has not given up quick fractions so I am assuming about a 112 best at 6 furlongs. #1 ran 2-2-1, 136.7 off a 112.6; ran a 133.8 mile on the lead off a 110.4 6f #3 ran 11-11-7, 136.7 off a 112.6 - lost this race by a neck to the 1 #5 ran 6-6-3, 138.1 off a 112.7 and 10-10-8 off of a 134.6/111.8 The 1 gets first jump off the 3 earlies, then the 3 and finally the 5. Most likely better prices on the 1 and 3 as the 5 has not apparently regained last year's form. the 3 is 8/1 ML while the 1 is 5/1 ML; Pizza Man is 8/5. 1 and 3 are my picks, but would not be surprised with a slice! Good luck. |
