The Entropy Program
Here is race 6 from Tampa Bay on March 17th
I will run the race in Entropy II This is a demonstration of what each screen shows, The PP's and my paceline and contender comments are up in the teaching forum Naturally like most or all of the Dos based Bradshaw/Sartin Programs The first screens are for pace line entry, I do not hand enter pacelines anymore, I send my selected pacelines with the tap of a button from RDSS The pacelines can be sent either as original or adjusted I choose to send the lines as original, Then inside of entropy, I automate/ project to today's distance. Here I have projected the lines to today's distance of 6.5 furlongs Last edited by Bill V.; 03-27-2019 at 07:41 PM. |

Win Energy
My comments are at the bottom of each screenshot This screen shows the ratings of the primary factors Total Energy, Hidden Energy, FX, Med Energy, Late Energy, and Final Energy My comment of what I look for on this screen are noted based on the March 17th Tampa race 6 The Energy Generator This like in most of the old programs is the first analytical screen to come up |

Dream race Total Energy
Entropy is designed to get races down to no more than 4 (preferred) or 5 contenders. The top 4 or 5 Dream race total energy can be located on the very next screen after the Energy Generator |

1 2 or 3 adjust
The next screen is important
You must decide how to adjust the remaining analytical screens You must make the call to use the auto adjust ( 1) or the Alternate (2) or the manual adjust |

DC Pars
This is the heart and soul screen in Entropy and the key to every program to follow Velocity relative to deceleration These readouts, again High =fastest but also relative to deceleration. Please read my comments on this screen while rating the March 17th TB race 6 |

Bill: My favorite program of all the older programs was and is Entropy.
When I first came to RDSS it was still on the final screen with BLBL etc. Ted removed it because of redundancy with V/DC. In actually V/DC was birthed from Entropy and is a much greater factor. What makes V/DC so confusing to the majority is the format Sartin used to display it. Americans by and large are oriented on a scale of 100 which is why the simplicity of TPR and the old Entropy are still very popular. Also I guess it was meant to keep the pirates at bay. Users quickly get the Entropy format. As Sartin said people learn and grasp by different means so he used graphs, numbers, segment screens etc. I can get winners from the Energy Generator screen alone because of concept. Sartin always stressed the understanding of concept which took a long time to develop in my brain housing group. Is Entropy the golden grail or as good as the present RDSS program? Hell no! Every program produced by Sartin was an improvement internally and produced more winners. Why settle for a bite when yo can have the whole enchilada. At the time Entropy was a great tool for deciding a proper pace line but the Preceptor does a much better and simplistic job today. The nemesis of Entropy and Thoromation was that pesky 1 and 2 adjust which caused many users to lose races. Through research Sartin was able to eliminate it and greatly improve its proficiency. Thanks for the memories Bill and great interpretation of all the screens. Hope your well Bill and winners jump up off the page at you. Mitch44 Last edited by Mitch44; 03-28-2019 at 11:01 AM. |

I dont think the purpose of this was to compare Entropy to RDSS
Bill thanks again very much for taking the time to demonstrate it |

I really miss the times when you used to do races with the various computer programs, you made some really good videos. Your knowledge with the readouts along with Bill were the best. Jeff |

Shoeless:
My thread was about Entropy and its evolution into V/DC as in todays RDSS, not off topic and appropriate to RDSS and Sartin material. Members are mature enough on this site to choose their own courses of action, Sartin always allowed free flow of ideas. That choice not only includes what program they use but also what they read. By brainstorming and staying on topic many have the information to make more informed decisions. Sartin was a firm believer in progression or in layman terms if your stalled in the middle of the road you're about to get run over by a piggy back semi truck. I'm in the cab riding with Sartin as he drives on to the objective. Mitch44 |
