Bud Jones R.I.P.

I learned that a long time member here Bud Jones passed away last week at his home in south San Diego, of a heart attack. Bud was a Matchup expert and long standing handicapper in the Sartin style, with 10,000 stories from back in the day. I visited with Bud a few years ago while working on the Matchup, in his smoky home. Bud organized both our Paceandcap gatherings at Del Mar.

He was an exceedingly generous man to his friends and taught many people how to make use of the Matchup. Rest in peace, Bud.

Some photos of us including Bud at Del Mar: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=16

Sad news I met Bud a few days before pace and cap day at Del Mar. He was well liked as we wandered around
and talked.
Prayers to his family

I met Bud on several occasions after that first Del Mar gettogether and he was very generous with his knowledge and a true Runyonesque character.

God bless you Bud.

That's me in the Boston jersey. I had just spoken to Bud a month before this news. We were working on variants and adjusting pace lines. A fine gentleman Bud Jones was. I'm glad I met him and I'm honored that he paid me some very fine complements on my handicapping skills. I'll miss him.

I never met Bud in person, but exchanged emails with him over the years. He will be sorely missed.
