Using the Match Up on harness racing?

Has anyone had any experience or success with using the Match Up to handicap pacers and trotters?

I know there are computer programs out there, but I'm wondering if anyone has become proficient enough just by "eyeballing" the hard copy past performances ala Hat style.

There was a DOS program, which I still have, called Trot-a-mation. The more I learn about the sport, the driver and post position have much more to do with the outcome that any parallel in Thoroughbreds.
