"IN GENERAL, how far back time wise and number of lines, will you go back to find a nifty pace line to work with.
I know there are situations like the horse has been running way out of it's class or on the wrong surface, but IN GENERAL, how far will you go??"

As a general rule, I don't go back too far with very cheap horses (last 1 to 3 races). Conversely, I am willing to go back a little farther with higher class ones. It all depends on the situation. There's a certain 'feel' (call it intuition, sixth sense or voodoo) one develops after analyzing so many past performances where the correct paceline, like Doc was famous for saying, "looms up" from the page to you.

Regards,

Jon
